Lenten shchi with bean (cabbage soup with bean)


0,5 cup bean;
1lb (0,4 kg) cabbage (grated);
3 medium potatoes (diced);
1 medium carrot (grated);
1 medium onion (chopped);
3 Tbsps vegetable oil;
1 Tbsp tomato paste;
1 bay leaf;
6 cups water;
salt, spices to taste

Boil bean in water for 45 minutes. Add cabbage, salt, then boil for 15 minutes. Add potatoes. Brown together carrot and onion with vegetable oil and tomato paste. Add this mixture into the soup. Add bay leaf, spices, then simmer for 10 minutes. Have a nice dinner!
